Bitmap is a product of The Curve, a technology consultancy in Sheffield. We built it for ourselves because month-end kept taking a week.
The Curve builds and runs bespoke software for organisations that need it to work — in healthcare, in logistics, in the public sector, and in businesses whose processes never fitted the package they bought.
We are also a consultancy, and a consultancy runs on a handful of numbers: how much of the team is billable, how much of each budget is left, who is free, what can be invoiced and what has been paid for but not yet delivered. For years we kept those numbers where most firms do — in a timesheet tool, a planning spreadsheet, a folder of proposals and the accounts package — and we spent the first week of every month making them agree.
So we built the tool we wanted: one place where a budget is the record the timesheet is logged against, the planner books against and the invoice is raised from. We have run The Curve on it ever since. Every screen in Bitmap exists because somebody here needed it on a Monday morning.
Bitmap is now a product any consultancy can sign up for. The people who built it still use it every day, which is the best guarantee we can offer that it does what a consultancy actually needs.

The numbers should come from the work
A report that somebody assembles is a report that is late and wrong. If utilisation, burn and deferred income are computed from the timesheets and budgets as they are entered, nobody has to assemble anything.
A tool should fit how a consultancy already works
Sell, plan, deliver, bill. Bitmap follows that shape rather than asking a firm to adopt a new one. The screens are the ones our own team opens every day.
The people who build it should use it
We run The Curve on Bitmap. When a screen is slow or a number is confusing, we are the first to know, and we fix it because we need it fixed.
